Guide to Camplify’s New MyWay Mutual Premium Membership (Effective 1 May 2025)

If you’re a Premium Member on Camplify and feeling overwhelmed by all the new changes being rolled out under the MyWay Mutual system, you’re not alone.

This guide explains everything you need to know—from damage protection and discretionary risk to fee structures and key responsibilities. It’s written in plain English, without the legal jargon, so you can stay protected and confident.

What Is the Camplify Premium Membership?

Camplify’s Premium Membership is a paid annual subscription designed for RV and camper owners who want full coverage and benefits while hiring through Camplify.

From May 2025, Premium Members are automatically eligible for protection under MyWay Protect—a member-funded protection scheme managed by MyWay Mutual Holdings Limited.

This isn’t traditional insurance—it’s discretionary risk protection. That means claims are reviewed and approved by the MyWay Mutual board, rather than guaranteed like in a normal insurance policy. More on this below.

About MyWay Mutual and MyWay Protect

MyWay Protect is a discretionary risk protection plan available only to registered members of MyWay Mutual. It is not insurance, but rather a pooled fund where members support each other in case of RV-related losses or damage.

The key points:

  • All claims are reviewed by the MyWay Mutual Board, who have full discretion to approve or deny claims.
  • Claims must be fair, honest, and align with the guidelines outlined in the Protection Wording and PDS.
  • There is no legal guarantee of payment, but the Board aims to assess all claims fairly.
  • Protection is available for On-Hire damage, and (for eligible RVs) personal use damage.

You can find everything in the official Product Disclosure Statement provided by Camplify!

The Nature of Discretionary Protection: Know the Risk

Unlike insurance, discretionary protection:

  • Does not create a legal right to payment. Instead, members can request the Board to exercise discretion to approve a claim.
  • Is not regulated by APRA or protected by the Financial Claims Scheme.
  • Could, in rare cases, deny or reduce claim payouts due to financial constraints or if the mutual’s reserves are depleted.

To mitigate risks, MyWay Mutual:

  • Maintains a reserve fund to pay claims
  • Seeks professional actuarial advice
  • May take out excess of loss or stop-loss reinsurance to cover high volume years

In extreme cases where the Mutual faces multiple large claims, the Board may limit payouts or delay them to ensure fairness across all members.

Damage Protection: What Happens If Your RV Is Damaged?

On-Hire Damage

If your RV is damaged during a hire:

  • Camplify pays the first $10,000 excess if the claim is approved by MyWay Mutual.
  • If damage is below $10,000, Camplify will cover reasonable repair costs.
  • You must assign your right to pursue the hirer (or third party) to Camplify.

Undetected Damage

Undetected damage refers to issues you discover after a hire ends. It’s only considered On-Hire Damage if:

  • You can show evidence the damage happened during the hire.
  • You completed the Pre-Hire and Post-Hire Checklists.
  • You reported the issue within 48 hours.

If approved, you must contribute $3,000 out-of-pocket.

Important: No Pre/Post Hire checklists = No coverage for undetected damage.

What’s Actually Covered?

MyWay Protect offers a wide range of coverage benefits depending on your membership type (Premium, Flexible, Fleet, or Personal). All protections are discretionary and subject to the Board’s approval. Here’s what’s included for Premium Members:

Accidental Damage to Your RV

You’re protected for physical damage caused by:

  • Accidents
  • Theft or attempted theft
  • Storms and hail
  • Flooding
  • Fire
  • Malicious damage

Contents Protection

Covers damage to contents inside your RV up to $2,000, arising from the same events listed above. This includes bedding, kitchenware, and electronics.

Awning and Annexe Coverage

Protection includes damage and theft. If your awning or annexe is over 3 years old, payout is based on depreciated value:

  • Deduct 20% of replacement cost per 3 years of age
  • Max lifespan: 15 years (after which no value is assigned)

You’ll need to provide reasonable proof of purchase for replacements.

Off-Road Coverage

Available only for Premium and Fleet Members. Your RV is protected for:

  • Personal use on gazetted unsealed roads
  • Access roads (<20km) to recognised campgrounds in good condition

Exclusions:

  • Suspension/drive-train/underbody damage
  • Damage from reckless off-road use
  • Use on unapproved off-road tracks (unless prior approval is granted)

Legal Liability Protection

Up to $5 million per incident for:

  • Damage to third-party property during use
  • Bodily injury or death (Australia/NZ only, unless restricted)

Excludes: liability covered under CTP/workers comp, damage to yourself or household members, and overseas incidents.

Emergency Clean-Up

Covers costs up to $5,000 for debris removal or clean-up resulting from a Protected Incident.

Emergency Repairs

Up to $1,000 for urgent repairs that make the RV safe or roadworthy post-incident. You must attempt to contact Camplify before undertaking repairs.

Towing

Covers the reasonable cost to tow your RV to the nearest repairer or safe location if it’s immobile or unusable due to an incident.

Storage Costs

If your RV needs to be stored while waiting for repairs, you’re covered up to $750 per incident. Inform Camplify when lodging the claim.

Return Transport

If repairs occur over 100km away, Camplify may reimburse:

  • Travel to retrieve your RV
  • Or delivery to your home (up to $1,000 per incident)

Windscreen Chip Repairs

One chip repair per membership year for personal use only, up to $500, with no excess. Not valid if the windscreen requires full replacement.

Camplify Credit for Personal Use Interruptions

If your RV is damaged before a planned personal trip, you may be eligible for a $1,000 Camplify credit to hire another RV. You’ll need to provide proof of your trip and booking.

Dual Bookings

If you’re hiring both a tow vehicle and a towable RV, both must be separately subscribed under Premium Membership to qualify for protection.

Who’s Covered?

  • On-hire use: Hirers and drivers aged 21–84 with unrestricted licences

Note: Restricted licences trigger a higher excess.

  • Pre-existing damage (unless disclosed at the time of joining)

Fees, Contributions, and Costs

  2. Contribution – a portion of your fee paid by Camplify to MyWay Mutual to fund protection

You’ll receive:

  • A Certificate of Protection detailing start/end dates and fee breakdowns
  • A Certificate of Currency listing your RV details

Important payment notes:

  • If fees are overdue by 30+ days, your protection is paused.
  • Fees may vary depending on your RV’s market value.

Flexible Members pay a per-booking contribution. Premium Members have it baked into their subscription.

Membership Term and Cancellation Policy

  • Contract length: 12 months (Initial Term)
  • Cooling-off period: 21 days from signup
  • Can cancel after 12 months with 4 weeks’ notice
  • Can cancel early only if RV is sold (proof required)
  • After the first year, it rolls to month-to-month
  • You can request a refund of any unused annual fee (post 12-month term)

Availability and Exclusivity

As a Premium Member:

  • You must make your RV available for at least 90 days per year
  • You cannot list your RV on other platforms during your membership

Breaching this rule voids your MyWay Protect coverage and may result in account termination.

Making a Claim

  • Claims (including personal use) can now be lodged directly through your Owner Dashboard
  • All claims are reviewed by the MyWay Board
  • You’ll need to provide supporting documentation (photos, checklist forms, etc.)

FAQ

Q: Is MyWay Protect the same as insurance? A: No. It’s discretionary risk protection. The Board decides whether to pay each claim, unlike insurance, which guarantees payout if within policy terms.

Q: How much will I pay? A: Your contribution is included in your Premium Subscription. The actual amount is listed in your Certificate of Protection.

Q: What happens if MyWay Mutual runs out of funds? A: Claims may be delayed or paid in part. MyWay aims to avoid this through reserves and reinsurance, but there is no government guarantee like traditional insurance.

Q: What if I forget to complete the checklist? A: Undetected damage may be denied if you do not submit checklists and report issues within 48 hours.

Q: Can I use my own insurance instead of MyWay Protect? A: Yes—but only if you opt out of Premium Membership and provide proof of suitable cover (BYO insurance).

Q: Will pricing change in the future? A: Yes. From 1 June 2025, fees may vary based on your RV’s market value. These changes apply to your next renewal.
